PMC Environmental Management (erosion control)
Shotcrete is an accepted methodology for environmental management of non structural erosion control and stabilisation. While capable its long term effectiveness can be limited by substrate movement (cracking and water penetration) and inundation from ground water.
PMC Liner System is a flexible concrete barrier comprising of a polymer modified concrete (PCS-3LV) applied to a specified geotextile. PMC has all of the attributes of concrete with the flexibility of the geotextile to create a robust and durable barrier for non structural applications.
Using the PMC Liner System as a replacement for shotcrete in environmental management programs; drainage, erosion control and waste containment, provides a flexible barrier that caters for substrate movement with a UV tolerant and impermeable barrier against external weathering.
The PMC Liner is installed by positioning the geotextile over the nominated substrate, anchoring or fixing into place and then applying the PCS-3LV. PMC Liner System can be integrated into any manner of structures. At any stage of the PMC life cycle, the liner can be repaired by simply cleaning and reapplying the coating and or geotextile.
The cost savings in installation are significant; up to 60% over shotcreting. Ongoing advantages are management and maintenance. Once in place, cracking from substrate movement is nonexistence, negating cracking and shedding. PMC is trafficable for light vehicles and fauna, however should the surface be damaged, repairs can be easily undertaken by non specialist equipment and labour.
An added benefit is the reduction in the carbon footprint using PMC Liner System. Directly compared to shotcrete, the 125-150mm application depth is replaced by a nominal 5-7mm PMC barrier, 3mm being PCS-3LV.
